Star Groves, M.Ed.

Star Groves (she/her) graduated from Augusta University with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She specializes in anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, identity development, multicultural, and LGBTQIA+ related concerns with children (3-10), adolescents (11-17), and young adults (18-25). As a military child, Star understands clients who are in a transitional phase in the military lifestyle.

Using a combination of narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, she helps clients identify negative thought patterns in their life stories and assists them in reframing their stories to promote a change in behavior. She encourages top-down processing through the use of directives for all ages, including mindfulness, coping skills, play, and creative expression.  

Star’s mission as a clinician is to establish a warm, safe environment with unconditional positive regard for clients to feel affirmed in. She encourages client autonomy and collaboration to deliver the best possible care.

Star is under the supervision of Carolyn Metheny, LPC, CPCS.
